BOSTON-BASED BAND, BIG KETTLE DRUM, ENCOURAGES MUSIC LOVERS TO PADDLE FOR THEIR LIVES
APRIL 11, 2011 (BOSTON, MA) -- Freshly back from conquering the SXSW Festival in Austin, TX, Big Kettle Drum (BKD) releases its debut EP mixed and mastered by Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band is carving a new path with their visceral performances and vintage riff-based blues rock. Their sound is a mash-up of BRMC and Mumford & Sons with gritty vocals and face-kicking arrangements mixed with slide-guitar and banjo ripping through a wah-wah pedal. It's passionate music that invokes an emotional response.
“The music speaks to you on a guttural level,” states front-man Brant Christopher. “We are fighting to keep that type of music in the forefront of people’s minds. The outpouring of bubble- gum pop with meaningless lyrics is polluting this generation. Our music is a cry for a revolution against this wave of mediocrity that threatens to wash away all that real artists live for. It’s time to get in this boat and paddle for our lives.”
Big Kettle Drum features two former Fort Pastor members Brant Christopher (vocals) and Jeffrey Todd (slide guitar & banjo) along with Jesse Russell (drums) and Free Hallas (Bass).
Big Kettle Drum will be touring extensively this fall throughout the US. Their live shows leave you sweaty, affected and wanting to enlist in this revolution to embrace music that speaks to your soul.
